Isaiah 11:2-5: “2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him—a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. 3 His delight will be in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, He will not execute justice by what He hears with His ears, 4 but He will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with discipline from His mouth, and He will kill the wicked with a command from His lips. 5 Righteousness will be a belt around His loins; faithfulness will be a belt around His waist.”
I often wonder why God allowed me to be born in the United States, a place where I am free to gather with other believers and worship Jesus. Yet, other believers are not that fortunate. They were born in the slums or in a country where they cannot freely worship Jesus. Sometimes, I feel frustrated and restless because I don’t understand why these things are this way, but I do know that the Lord’s ways are higher than my ways.
According to this Scripture, along with many others, the Spirit of the Lord is righteous and He will execute justice in His timing. I must also remember that He has already won the battle against sin, evil, and death. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says that our momentary affliction will never compare to the eternal glory that will be ours through Christ Jesus. Join me in praying this promise for our brothers and sisters who are living in poverty, fear, or persecution. May they remember that the righteousness and the faithfulness of our Lord go hand in hand.
