1 Samuel 1:19-20: “The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to bow in worship before the Lord. Afterward, they returned home to Ramah. Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. After some time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, because she said, “I requested him from the Lord.”
If you don’t know Hannah’s story, you should take a moment to read it. In the beginning, her life was full of sadness, longing, and comparison. She struggled with some of the same things that you and I struggle with everyday. She longed for a son and pleaded with the Lord. After some time, as this verse says, “the Lord noticed her.” What an encouraging statement. The Lord came through and gave her a son and she gave him all of the glory.
Friend, if you are waiting on something from the Lord, if you have had a lot of conversation with him about your request, don’t give up. He notices, he hears and he is faithful. He has a beautiful gift in mind for you. It may not be exactly what you are requesting of him, but just know that he is a good father and delights in giving good gifts to his children. Continue the conversation with him. And remember to embrace that sweet communion with him. Give him the opportunity to radically transform your life.
