Jeremiah 2:5: “This is what the Lord says: What fault did your fathers find in me that they went so far from me, followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?”
In the physical world, there are certain laws…such as the law of gravity. Isaac Newton is credited with publishing these laws. I think the history of this verse can be summed up in Newton’s third law, which is this: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Every decision we make echoes into eternity. I’m not talking about drinking orange juice instead of apple juice, or eating cereal instead of oatmeal for breakfast. I’m talking about the way we treat people, the things we say to other believers, the places we go, the things we allow into our minds, the list goes on…. This concept should not scare us or paralyze us when it comes to making decisions, but it should push us to look to Jesus everyday. We need Him to lead us and guide us into the path He has beautifully laid out for us. You never know how He will use you to lead others to Him. We don’t have the ability to control the fate of others, but we do have the opportunity to point them to the Savior. Ask God for the desire and ability to use that opportunity wisely.
